This one deals with the el story of legendary outlaw Jesse James' daring bank robbery. The band of Cole Younger : Clift Robertson who also produced and Jesse James : Robert Duvall reunite for a robbing in Northfield Minnessota, the First National Bank that was deemed to be the largest bank of the Mississippi , but it results in fateful and bungled consequences . While the railway companies and banks take matters into their own hands. The West the way it really was ! Two most famous bandits, Jesse James and Cole Younger in the most daring bank robbery in the history of the West !

An action-packed adventure capturing the legacy of the notorious Jesse James and Cole Younger gang , as they decide to rob the biggest bank west of the Mississippi but everything goes wrong . Although this isn't a Hollywood biography, but the depiction about the special deeds happened when the notorious band carries out the violent assault. Writers focused both, legend and reality, of the outlaw's careers in post Civil War Minnesota a bring to life the historica events . This is an uneven, slow-moving , outlandish Western , but Clift Robertson's cunning Cole Younger and Robert Duvall's portrayal of the psychotic Jesse James are interesting and attractive . Furthermore these two protagonists here shows up a notable support cast , such as : Luke Askew , R. G. Armstrong , Elisa Cook, Donald Moffat, Dana Elcar , Matt Clark , Royal Dano , Arthur Peterson, Barry Brown, among others .

In addition , an evocative and adequate cinematography by Bruce Surtees , as well as atmospheric musical score by Dave Grusin. The motion picture was uneven but professionally directed by Philip Kaufman. He is a craftsman who has written/producted/directed a lot of films. Kaufman has made all kinds of genres as drama, Sci-Fi, Western, thriller, Western, such as : Hemingway and Gelhorn, Twisted, Quills, Henry and June, Rising Sun, Invasion of the Body Snatchers , Right Stuff, The Wanderers , Unbearable Lightness of Being , The White Down , Fearless Frank, Goldstein, among others . Rating : 6/10. Acceptable and passable. The flick will appeal to Robert Duvall and Clift Robertson fans . Essential and indispensable watching for Historical Western aficionados. Worthwhile seeing.
