As historical comedies go, this one almost works. Kinda. Using the same premise as 'Without a Clue' (namely that the heralded genius is actually incompetent and someone else behind the scenes is doing the work) generates some smiles, but the schtick soon wears thin and you find yourself yearning for a proper story. Amusing to a point, but there are better ways to spend your time.
