Four Buddhist monks from Thailand are found murdered, execution style, while at prayer. Their temple has been under siege many times as it sits in a seedy part of Las Vegas. The usual suspects are investigated, including a bigoted man and his son, who claim these people have affected their bottom line. Meanwhile, Catherine digs up a case from her past, after more sophisticated methods have shown there was probably planted evidence. Catherine's mentor seems to be in the middle of this, a man who taught her much of what she knows and whom she has admired greatly.
