I started watching SG-1 from the beginning again, it's been years, I've been enjoying it quite a bit. This was a good episode, not the best but it was entertaining. I betting a lot of the really low reviews and over-the-top negative comments are actually about politics or religion.
No one ever said he was a Republican, I think he acts like a Republican so Republicans assume that's what they're mocking.
After the last four years, I actually think the senator doesn't even look that outrageous. He doesn't care what the facts are, he's arrogant about it, and the reason evangelicals don't care about climate changes is because "God wouldn't let that happen"
It is not that far of a jump to assume if they were in power and start it was a real thing, they'd say the same thing about this.
