Review of Boy Erased

I think theres a lot of potential with the theme and the general story, but the story is boring. Nothing seems to be related to anything. Example: there was a scene with Jared and another boy sharing a bed, this scene's only purpose is for Jared to say in conversion therapy that they just held hands. You could have erased the scene and the movie will make the same amount of sense. Generally I think the movie is fine. The acting is pretty good and the story is emotionally there. The only problem is that a lot of scenes could have been removed because they don't contribute anything for the plot.

Sidenote: the movie is extremely depressing. Not as a bad thing, just a warning.
