Wow!

The original show defined the nineties, and when I found out they were revitalizing the show I was excited. My thirty-eight year old self jumped up and down and awaited the opportunity to see how they were going to do it. The original had scares and thrills, and there were episodes that creeped me out. What I adore about the revitalization is that they pay homage to the old series while giving the new one life. There are so many Easter eggs in both seasons. If you were an avid watcher of the original you can spot them. Teens do not have enough scary shows or movies that are devoted strictly to them, and now they have one. The characters are strong, and I find them motivating to young people. You have the outspoken, politically involved girl, to the boy who wants to be a leader yet is being held back by the alpha of the group. You have another one who is the academic, and one who has the heart of gold. Each shows teens how to be an active, and dare say, successful member in today's society. I highly recommend you watch to the very end because there are two surprise cameos. It is a great show for kids and adults alike. The second season brings vibes of IT (tamed down of course) as well as Creature from the Black Lagoon. The only complaint I have is the soap operatic feel to it may bore some much younger audience members. I do think the idea of creating a miniseries for preteens is a great idea. I wish this could expand to an every Friday night event and make it more of a scary/soap for preteens. Older audiences have the CW, but preteens and youngsters revolve around Nickelodeon. If Nickelodeon did this, the show would be a winner for all people alike. This millennial is giving this show a huge thumbs up!!
