Delightful classic romantic comedy dealing with a young man named Johnny : Gary Grant in a love for a girl : Doris Nolan of a wealthy family, but when he is invited to the mansion , things go wrong .This lower-class man is a prototype dropout who has a peculiar personaly and rare skills , as he nothing to do with his girlfriend's friend . Arriving engages to the conventionally snobbish younger daughter , stirring up resentments and latent doubts . However , Johnny : Grant gets on with his eldest sister : Katharine Hepburn and her unhappy and usually alcoholic brother : Lew Ayres .

Excellent comedy with great dialogue, nice interpretations and a real fun. A classy comedy with towering big main stars and competent secondaries concerning amusing messes , screwball, antics confusion and funny events . It is based on a story by Philip Barry who also wrote The Philadelphia Story equally directed by Cukor , belonging to same genre : The Sophisticated Comedy, ordinarily set in luxurious scenarios from upper classes . Main actors as Gary Grant, Katharine Hepburn and Doris Nolan are marvellous . While the superb support cast are frankly magnificent , such as: Lew Ayres, Jean Dixon , Edward Evertt Horton, Henry Daniell, Henry Kolker, Binnie Barnes , among others .

The motion picture was compellingly directed by George Cukor and it is still a masterpiece of its kind .Cukor was one of the best Hollywood filmmakers shooting a large number of successful and vintage movies with penchant for comedy , drama and musical , such as : David Copperfield , Margarita Gautier , Little Women, Adam's rib, Born Yesterday, Philadelphia Story , The Women , Corn is Green , Dinner at Eight , Les Girls , Gaslight , A Star is Born, My Fair Lady , Heller in Pink Tights , I Should Happen to You , Double Life , Woman's Face and Rich and Famous . Rating : 7/10 above average . Well worth watching . The movie will appeal to Gary Grant and Katharine Hepburn fans.
