Review of Scorpio

Scorpio (1973)
7/10
early version of Hopscoth... which was more fun.

The CIA thinks Cross ( Burt Lancaster ) has gone rogue, even possibly a double agent for the russians. They hire another CIA agent Laurien aka the Scorpio ( Alain Delon) to take him out. But he isn't convinced Cross has gone over to the other side. There ARE photos of Cross hanging with a russian agent ( Paul Scofiled ), but it's only still photos, and Scorpio and Cross talk like old friends. If this sounds familiar, it's the the same plot as Hopscotch (Walter Matthau and Glenda Jackson, together again)... without the humor and clever wordplay we will see in Hopscotch, seven years later. Scorpio credits the "story" to David Rintels. Directed by Michael Winner. It's very good! Shows on the Epix streaming channel. And if you like this one, check out Hopscotch... the same story with some really funny stuff! Matthau and Glenda Jackson.
