Terrible show that gave my daughter nightmares
16 August 2021
This show is unimaginative, unoriginal, cheap slapstick comedy in un-Disney like cartoon style (more reminiscent of.the 90s Cow and Chicken, I AM Weasel or even Ren and Stimpy). While the show is not quite as violent nor does contain quite the same disturbing imagery it comes close while being marketed to a much younger audience (it has a rating of 6 in Disney). Some episodes border on horror.

We saw the cartoon featured on my daughters kids profile (she is 7) and I thought this would be a great way to introduce her to the lovable Chip and Dale characters that I remembered watching as a kid (after all the new Duck Tales is great and the re-invention of MIckey every few years works). We watched the first couple of episodes together and I was disappointed to say the least. The mute characters and obnoxious reactions betrayed the story and character driven heroes of old.

But the worst was s1e3 "The Jungle". I left my daughter watching the episode while getting her a snack. She came running to me 5 minutes later upset about the show. Three nights later she still can not fall asleep without tears complaining about bad nightmares the episode gave her. The episode features the characters stuck in an inescapable jungle while being preyed upon by giant owls, praying mantis' and spiders. It culminates in them being captured by an owl and eaten with the owls beak seemingly covered in blood (only to it being revealed in the last 10 seconds that the characters are a alive). This in a cartoon marketed to 6 year olds?!

Now I enjoy adult cartoons. Southpark and "Rick and Morty" are two of my favorite shows but these are shows for adults, not marketed and advertised to kids and not appearing on kids Disney profiles. I expected more from Disney. (this is the first review I ever write I think, just don't know where to complain)
