Warning: Spoilers
We recently binge watched Better Call Saul after watching everything else on our streaming service. Loved it - Bob Odenkirk is an amazing, talented, funny man. It seemed Breaking Bad was the logical next step. I'd avoided it cause glamorizing meth use is NOT my thing. Still isn't. And that's my issue. This show could have been a vehicle for an anti-meth message but it never got there. Never treated the severity of this problem with the gravitas it deserved.. Add to that - the only reason I'm still watching is cause I can't wait for Walt to meet his demise. Yes, I know - if I'm that emotionally invested in a character, the show has done it's job but still...there's that glorification of meth use/production that continues to irk me and makes me wonder why so many accolades were showered on this disturbing creation. For those of you that have been avoiding it because of this irresponsible "entertainment" - you can't unwatch this. There is no satisfying "well finally they've addressed the hurt and pain meth addiction causes"; there is no moral denouement addressing the wrongness of this concept; there is no mea culpa for romanticising meth. And that bothers me.
