One of the Best Movies I Have Ever Seen
23 August 2021
This is an incredible film and having just watched this I am shocked it is not better known. Six men from the same village join Pancho Villa as he fights the Mexican Revolution. There are flashes here of John Ford, the relationships between men, the nobility of kinship, yet also there is the generosity of spirit and humanistic touch of Renoir. You come to admire the characters despite their flaws. The landscape and culture and beautifully portrayed. The battle scenes are raw and remarkable, yet there is warmth and humor through out. This move is a masterpiece.
