Tick Tick Boom is a 2021 Musical drama starring Andrew Garfield(in his singing debut) Alexandre Shipp(who plays his on screen girlfriend Susan),Robin De Jesus (who plays Michael Jonathan's friend) and Vanessa Hudgens(who plays a backup singer).
Based on a true story on the composer for Rent Jonathan Larson who used to work at a diner before making it big in Broadway with his Broadway debut Superbia along with his 2 friends Karessa(Vanessa Hudgens) and Josh Henry.
Andrew Garfield's singing debut was very good(who knew he could sing and play the piano so well). I honestly find Andrew to be a very underrated actor as he never won an Oscar(honestly he was snubbed at the Oscars for Breathe which was another film based on a true story). The story was very good along with the rest of the actors. The music was good too but it's not as memorable as Enchanted, The Lion King etc. Lin Manuel Miranda did a good job for his directorial debut(as he was known for being in Hamilton and the music for Moana). If you love musicals then check it out. Bradley Whitford co stars as Stephen Sondheim(Jonathan's idol).
On a side note the real Jonathan Larson died in 1996 of Aorta Aneurysm at the young age of 35.
