A spotlight on Disgruntled workers with zero intro - must be familiar w/original series
12 December 2021
Let me premise my review by saying I didn't watch Tiger King Murder, Mayhem & Madness (now simply titled Tiger King, which makes it uber confusing to try to look up with now a series, a film, and each episode coming up as a separate title on IamDB). I don't recommend watching The Doc Antle Story before the Murder, Mayhem film which, no doubt, intro's Joe Exotic and his cast of merry characters. I found Doc Antle Story to be beyond confusing since I thought Doc was the guy everyone was talking about re the big hoopla about "tiger king" and thought, "Ok, let's see what the hype is about." It had no introduction to the facts so you have to know what it's about before you can appreciate anything that is presented. It weaves around a bunch of people who sound like disgruntled employees whining about having to be back from lunch on time. And then it veers very oddly to intro a famous yogi from the 60s without the slightest prefacing. I mean, this film is all over the place and seems to think it's a series of cliffnotes. Maybe that's what it should be called: Murder, Mayhem, Madness, the Cliffnotes.

Doc may be a shady character but 30 min in, there is zero evidence and just a handful of people saying things like "he had a big ego" or "he loved the women" or "when I heard her story, I wanted to come forward." About not having enough breaks? I'm not sure. But I do know running an animal sanctuary is a 24/7 job that you either love or hate and all animal trainers are eccentric.

At this point -- having known a celebrity who was totally misunderstood and mistreated by the media, films, and books with zero evidence -- I feel like Doc is being bullied by people who should have simply left rather than harbor all this toxic sentiment for decades.

I will go watch the Murder, Mayhem series and see if afterward I decide to finish watching "the other guy's story".
