Another person reviewing this also mentioned Gilligan's Island and I totally agree that it was probably modeled after this movie. The woman who plays the 'queen' of the island is a lot like Mrs. Howell. You have to remember this was made about 4 years after the 1929 market crash and the world was still in a deep depression so this movie was total escapism and basically saying that you don't need money and materialism to be happy, which is true if you happen to have a warm island in the sun to live on so you don't have to worry about the little things in life like shelter, heat, electricity and food.
