This scandal shook the small mining community and subsequently the foundations of the nation's top law enforcement agency, ending in the first ever conviction of an F. B. I. Agent for murder.

A Noir film with usual femme fatale, including intense drama , a tumultuous love triangle , violence , emotion and anything else . The twisted and chilling true story centers around a newly married F. B. I agent assigned to an Appalachian mountain town in Kentucky , but there things go wrong . Well set in a beleaguered mining town in rural Pikeville , Kentucky and based on real-life events, this is an interesting story that leads to the first conviction for murder of an FBI agent . The intriguing script and interpretation are top-drawer , and there're thrills enough to satisfy the average appetite for suspense enthusiasts. Nevertheless , the action segments suffer in comparison to ordinary thriller film . Emilia Clarke gives an acceptable acting as the down-on-her-luck local woman who falls fatefully in love. Emilia Clarke finally receives a Hollywood stardom that already had before internationally thanks to Game of Thrones . While Jack Huston is nice as the success-driven fresh-out-of-the academy agent drawn into an illicit affair with an impoverished local woman, as he showcases the talents that previously showed in other movies , in spite of the flop of Ben Hur . The picture relies heavily on the love triangle among the trio of protagonists : Jack Huston , Emilia Clarke, Sophie Lowe , but it doesn't makes boring , neither tiring and nor dull .

This handsomely mounted flick was professsionally directed by Phillip Noyce , though being slow-moving and some disagreeable, adding some strong love scenes . Noyce is a successful Australian director who filmed Dead Calm (1989), starring Nicole Kidman, Sam Neill and Billy Zane , it brought Noyce to Hollywood, where he directed 6 films over the next decade, including Patriot Games (1992) and Clear and present danger (1994) starring Harrison Ford, and The bone collector (1999), starring Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie and In 2002 Noyce returned to his native Australia, where released two films worldwide at almost the same time. The Quiet Man (2002) starred by Brendan Fraser and Michael Caine in an Academy nominated Best Actor performance and it appeared on over 20 top ten lists for 2002, including the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute. Noyce subsequently made The Rabbit proof fence (2002) . In 2006 Noyce directed Tim Robbins and Derek Luke in the South African set political thriller Catch the fire (2006) and this Above Suspicion (2019) that failed at the box office. Rating : 5.5/10. Passable and acceptable.
