Josie and the Pussycats (1970–1972)
8/10
youthful and musical adventures

OK, so a lot of "Josie and the Pussycats" is kind of corny - and some of the material isn't exactly PC - but you gotta love the adventures of this group of friends. The levelheaded leader (Josie), the voice of reason (Valerie), the ditz (Melody), the bully (Alexandra), the mod-clad wimp (Alexander), the hunk (Alan), and the cat (Sebastian) travel the world, going up against assorted dastardly villains. I get the feeling that music-loving youngsters having to face malevolent older people was supposed to evoke the '60s mindset (as in, don't trust anyone over thirty).

Obviously the show, coming as it does from Hanna-Barbera, shares similarities with Scooby-Doo. I understand that it's based on characters from Archie Comics, although I haven't read enough of those to see them. Whatever the case, this is one enjoyable cartoon series. You're sure to love it.
