Adam's Rib (1949)
7/10
Tried to prove that the sexes are equal. Really? Seventy three (73) years later not much has changed.

Take it for what it was. This is classified as a Comedy/Romance but in reality this could have been a wake up call for the Female sex to not accept a secondary role in most if not all professions. To this very day, women have continued to express their disappointment in this still being a man's world. Of course there are physical differences between men and women.

Women can birth children but men cannot. That is until the 1994 comedy film Junior starring Arnold Schwarzenegger proved otherwise. Then there is that false belief that men are naturally stronger than woman that is until the physically strong(er) and agile actress Hope Emerson performed a series of courtroom somersaults and lifted Spencer Tracy over her head in this 1949 film Adam's Rib.

There were some excellent scenes such as Hope Emerson's physical and acrobatic feats, and later in the film when Spencer Tracy catches his wife Katherine Hepburn in the arms of his neighbor actor David Wayne. The film ended on a light and happy note but the underlying message of equality between men and women is still waiting to be achieved. For the record, I am a 66 year old heterosexual male without any cross to burn.

I liked the film and I give it a decent 7 out of 10 IMDB rating.
