Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018 Video Game)
10/10
The game that changed me forever.
14 March 2022
So it's early 2021/late 2020, and me and my friend Armin are having our nerdy conversations. Here we are talking about our favourite games, now before all this, I wasn't your "play games almost every day" sort of person. Only games I really liked were Minecraft and FNaF(I was a weird kid and i still am lol). I never really interacted with games as a little kid cause I thought even 20 minutes of video games was considered too much. All I had at the time as a little kid was a Nintendo 3DS and a PS4/PS3. Anyways, my friend mentioned Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a game where the most iconic characters would bash and clash in an epic fight, maybe by fighting your friends or CPUs. Again, I wasn't big on games, but I did show interest in it though. Then, on Christmas of 2020, my friend Maxwell got a Nintendo Switch, with super smash bros Ultimate. From then on, anytime I went to his house, we always competed with each other, him eventually destroying me. I watched videos online of people playing it, and learned more about the games. Not only that, but for quite a few months I craved for a smash bros game. Then, when my dad brought home his old N64, he bought the original Super Smash Bros. It might've not been much, but it was all that I had. Me and my 5 yr old brother used to play it all the time. But then, Christmas of last year, my dad got us a Nintendo Switch for Christmas and we immediately played the newest game. I eventually got a whole lot better, even beating my demons by winning a lot of games against my friend, who used to absolutely demolish me.

Plot: Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a Nintendo Switch Exclusive title featuring the strong plumber Mario, the saviour of Hyrule, Link, the pink blob from space, Kirby, the gorilla Donkey Kong, and the space bounty Hunter, Samus Aran. There are also a few other gaming characters, like the famous ones: Sonic, Solid Snake, Mega Man, PAC Man, Ryu, Cloud, Steve, Kazuya, and recently the very last character to be added, Sora from the Disney Video Game Kingdom Hearts. This game also brought life to characters that are lesser known in Nintendo's category, like Marth from Fire Emblem, Fox Mcloud from Starfox, Pit from Kid Icarus, and Ness from Earthbound. Overall, this is the easiest way to learn Nintendo's gaming history. Hell, this also feels like a family reunion of gaming icons, even ones that aren't from Nintendo. The director of these games, Masahiro Sakurai, who also made Kirby, puts his love, compassion, genius, and absolutely tiring work into these games(so glad that he retired, he really deserves the break).

Overall, the graphics are actually impressive for a Nintendo project, even stunning the Xbox/PS users who are so used to realistic graphics for their newer games. Not saying that Nintendo is bad at graphics of course. The fan base may give off "no gf" vibes but hey were tryhards no matter what. The move sets are quite clever and unique, and not like your basic fighting games(totally not hating on Street Fighter and MVC I love those games). Also, your main character to play as is probably the greatest part of this game. I main K Rool, Luigi, and Captain Falcon :)

I definitely recommend this game who likes to be competitive and likes a variety of characters.
