Though some shallow film historians credit . . .

. . . Mr. King as the main source material for THE SHINING, this begs the question of WHO inspired Steve-O? Anyone who's read a Shakespeare play knows that the first 100 pages of any reputable edition are invariably devoted to a discussion of the Bard's sources. Similarly, when one considers the original SHINING, it's clear that the character of "Jack" was written with BELLBOY DONALD in mind. Because Don Duck was lounging around in semi-retirement in the late '70's and early '80's, that eponymous Nicholson dude made his name by filching the part of Jack in the feature film. But any well-versed viewer will immediately be put in mind of Don Duck's shenanigans at the Lofty Manors Hotel as soon as Jack begins chopping that door. This dull boy's "acting" is more of an impersonation of Don than an invention of a new character.
