Near the end, the action is quite illogical, but that scarcely matters: it's a sort of black comedy. There is a bunch of not-very-bright women, neighbours mainly, full of petty jealousies and struggling to keep up appearances. It's this lack of capability that drives the story along. On the other side, the unrelated (except in one case) men are criminals of the worst type. The prize is an unexpectedly large sum of dough from a robbery that went right.
