Suspend belief for a while over this Love Story
25 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This film wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly good. For one thing, the main character, an overweight, unattractive Danish guy falls in love with a beautiful Italian girl who actually is the same age as him but looks about 20 years younger, so this is where you have to suspend belief a bit. On top of that, her fiancé is a beautiful Italian hunk who she - spoiler alert - dumps for the fat Danish guy -- again suspension of belief necessary. He is a talented chef but depressing with father issues. Probably this is a fantasy that many Nordic men have -- leave cold and uptight northern country for beautiful, sensual, a bit dirty southern country, where adding a bit of extra wine to the dish doesn't ruin it and in fact makes it better, notwithstanding the recipe, something that the Danish guy learns for the beautiful Italian girl, changing him for the better, making him less uptight.
