Review of Alice

Alice (2022)
3/10
Poor attempt

Warning: Spoilers
I fully sympathize with the struggle depicted in this movie. It's just not a good movie. Poorly-made in most aspects. Even worse, the concept is copied from another recent movie which is executed significantly better in every way. I can't say which movie because it would be a spoiler, but it came out in 2020 and it's awesome. (1 viewing, 6/14/2022)

SPOILERS

As we've seen many times, the morons who made the trailers ruined half the movie. You don't find out this takes place a century later until 40 minutes into the movie. It would have been a huge reveal. I don't understand how these trailer creators are allowed to continue to spoil major reveals.

When she escapes into the real world, her reactions and adjustment to the differences are not in the least bit believable. I'm not blaming the actress, I'm blaming the script.

This movie is filled with stupid parts and dumb character decisions. This is especially the case with the character played by Common. He thinks she has amnesia but doesn't question why she's asking if black people are free or about owners. Or if there are small people in the TV.

Then for some reason Alice is unable to explain something so basic, she lived her entire life on a plantation under the guise that slavery is still legal. He finally understands after the conversation she has with the owner's wife, but they don't even bother showing his reaction when he comes to that tragically shocking realization. And don't even get me started on the wife's logic to come talk to Alice and convince her they were being nice.

The last baffling reaction was when Alice finds out her husband is not actually dead. It's so underwhelming like the rest of this movie.
