The Quarry (2022 Video Game)
9/10
A worthy (full game) successor to Until Dawn.
19 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I went into this expecting not to be half as satisfied as I was with Until Dawn but I was pleasantly surprised and actually feel it fixed a lot of the flaws of it's predecessor.

New things to look forward to: -more variety in endings (allegedly 173) -better QTE's that are more handicap accessible -just as unique of a story -inside jokes that acknowledge Until Dawn without relying solely on its reputation -a nod to classic horror tropes that get turned on their head if the player is smart enough to know what you SHOULD NOT do in a horror film -the women's faces look less cheeky/teethy -can save all teens without turning one into a permanent creature (a la Josh) -interesting collectibles (some of which are multi-part) -a change to the prologue formula of killing off those characters immediately (this was common in the Dark Pictures Anthology too)

My main criticism is the ending... I would've liked to see more of an update on what happens after. The podcast was fine but perhaps seeing "(insert character) reconciled with (insert character) and are now dating". It would've made the dialogue choices I made for the characters seem important. Overall it's one of my favorite games of the year so far and I'm hoping there are plans to do another full-sized game like this that won't be another 7 years.
