Having sat through a handful of Andy Sidaris movies, the tour let me to the 1993 action movie "Hard Hunted". And I figured that I would be in for the same thing here as I had with all the previous movies, so I wasn't harboring much hopes beyond of what writer and director Andy Sidaris had delivered previously.
I actually do believe I have seen "Hard Hunted" back in the mid-1990s, as I do remember the movie's cover from a VHS tape, though I have to say that I had fully forgotten about the movie. And now having sat through it, the only thing that rang a bell in my memory was Al Leong wearing that Japanese headband and flying around in that one man gyrocopter.
Writers Andy Sidaris and David Avallone managed to churn out another movie of the ilk that Andy Sidaris had been doing repeatedly since the early 1980s, for better or worse. So if you have seen any of the movies that came before "Hard Hunted", then you know what you are in for here, as they followed that very same blueprint and recipe.
The acting performances in "Hard Hunted" were fair enough, taking into consideration the type of movie that it is. However, I will say that the return of some cast members from previous movies is good, as it gives the movie a sense of continuation. However, I just don't understand why they opted to hire Al Leong again, as he was in a previous movie already and killed off. But then again, it wasn't the first time that they re-hired an actor for a different role in this movie series.
And I do love the fact that no matter how many rockets Raven (played by Al Leong) fired from his gyrocopter, then every scene always showed four rockets mounted on it.
"Hard Hunted" is definitely a watchable enough movie, having a good amount of action to it and a decent enough storyline actually, if you can live with the nudity and cringeworthy lovemaking scenes.
