A moral tale
15 July 2022
I truly don't understand the problem people have with this. The editing is Oscar-worthy, so nobody gets hurt or damaged in any way. It portrays the more clean side of the porn industry, so even when she reaches her breaking point it shies from the worst. The brief conversation with her mother is so clever as it tells you pretty much exactly why she's there. It's a debut feature from the director Ninja Thyberg and a first role for the star Sofia Kappel and they are both outstanding. It is absolutely a feminist film, as it demonstrates perfectly how men rule the genre and abuse the women who believe they are empowered to be part of it. It's a huge debate. There are women who fulfil their fantasy within the industry, and there are now many women-only companies making films for women, which is fabulous, but of course the horrific side will never end. Porn has always and will always exist, and pretending otherwise is facile. If you're not prepared to watch films like this your opinion doesn't matter. I watch because I want facts to form my opinions.
