An icon of American History deserves better
22 October 2022
Sousa and the Beatles - virtually everything they wrote was a number 1 hit! For an American icon he deserves a film made about himself. This 1952 film is spoilt by too much content of the character played by Robert Wagner. I had been looking for this film on DVD for years in Australia having last seen it decades ago on TV here. All I could finally get was an unrestored VHS tape barely watchable. To me Sousa is a symbol of the strength and unity of the USA and needs a film maker like Ron Howard (The Music Man 1962) to bring him back to life on the screen. A film that will end up on the Congress Film Register!
