"He's a priest and we ordained him"
7 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A lively gallop through the career of J. Edgar Hoover with brief stops at certain moments (i.e. The shooting of Dillinger) and longer pauses (i.e. His difficult relationship with Robert Kennedy) at other times and also having characters who pop in and out, so the film is a bit patchy and you don't really get to know Hoover's character but I enjoyed the film. Broderick Crawford as the older Hoover was fine and many good actors were in support. I was particularly struck by Dan Dailey's excellent performance as Clyde Tolson. Also Michael Parks as Bobby Kennedy was entertaining. Director Larry Cohen brings all the varied elements of time and character together rather well. A good watch.

Though how much of it is actually true is another matter.
