The lame plot for Rock Of Ages sees Al winning a competition, the prize being a first class ticket to Hawaii - just the one ticket, meaning that he can travel on his own in luxury! However, Peggy trades Al's prize for four stand-by tickets so the whole family can go. Al is dismayed that he will no longer get complimentary champagne and unlimited peanuts, but he manages to sneak into first class by posing as a rock musician (named Axl Bundy - how hilarious), with his family in tow.
Once in first class, Al rubs shoulders with several fossils from rock history: there are members of The Doors, The Spencer Davis Group, Herman's Hermits, Lovin' Spoonful and Paul Revere & the Raiders, none of whom I recognised. Taken in by Al's masquerade, these 'superstars' of rock invite The Bundy's to cut a charity record with them, and the result is a painfully bad spoof of We Are The World called We Are The Old that is not in the slightest bit funny.
The show's gradual decline in quality is starting to worry me: I still have four and a half seasons to go.
