6/10
middling thriller
21 December 2022
Jake (Drew Van Acker) lives in isolation with his father Troy (Stephen Moyer) in the middle of the woods. Jake is told that WWIII resulted in a violent post-apocalyptic world. Troy kills an intruder, but his last words to Jake only refers to loving his daughter. When Troy gets wounded, Jake has to venture out into the world to find medicine. He is ordered to kill anyone he encounters. He does encounter Henrietta (Alicia Silverstone). Instead of killing her, he has an affair with her.

The twist is not really a twist. I never accepted the premise in the first place. In a way, I couldn't wait for the reveal so that I can abandon the premise. I was a little surprised that Alicia Silverstone shows up in this movie. It's a bit of robbing the cradle. That's a bigger issue for me. It turns into a fine mid-level thriller. It's very middling.
