This film has one of the most unbelievable premises I've ever seen! You can't even blame Stockholm syndrome for this unlikely holiday romance.
Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez are great in this kidnapping romance. Melissa Joan Hart plays Gertrude "Trudie" Chandler an artist who is working as a waitress, still waiting for her big break. Her dad wants her to give it up and get a real job, to which he sets up an interview with a family friend. Trudie spills on her dress, burns her hair with chemicals and is late for the interview...to top it off her boyfriend bails on her at the last minute for going to her parents for Christmas. Trudie looses it and takes a customer at the restaurant hostage to her parents' cabin holiday.
There is a lot of comedy in this atypical holiday romance. My favorite character is played by the small town gas station-store owner, his gift of furry hand-cuffs was priceless!
