Review of The Best of Me

Do the male actors look like each other of the two time periods...no, but I'll overlook that. Is this a romantic story...sure. But what this movie really is, is a horror movie disguising itself as a Hallmark movie. The main actors and actresses in both time periods are enjoyable to watch. The ladies are beautiful and the red roses are literally blooming all the time. But these two are really doomed, especially the male actors. His life was tragic for a few decades, then a short moment of heavenly bliss, then tragic a few more decades, then a short burst of bliss, then Dead. The only lesson we come away with in the movie is that if you don't wipe out your enemies completely, the lives of your friends, your lover, and finally yourself will be ruined until finally some day you get killed.
