Warning: Spoilers
On the plus side this movie has great sets and good cinematography and a great score by Max Steiner. Yet I didn't find it that engaging. Apart from a solid Nigel Bruce as Holly and a poignant Gustav von Seyffertitz as Billali the other members of the cast were not memorable. Randolph Scott seemed out of his depth as Leo Vincey and Helen Gahagan as 'She Who Must Be Obeyed' was too mannered and actually a bit boring. The changes to the original were needless like setting it in Siberia instead of Africa and tacking on a happy ending. Am not sure 'She' was actually called 'Ayesha' which was her personal name. At 1 hour 41 minutes it was too long too. On the whole I preferred the 1965 version made by Hammer Films.
