Brighton (II) (2019)
2/10
Dreadful, amareurish, low-budget Brit drama - a stinker
12 January 2023
In 2019's dreadful low-budget Brit drama "Brighton" aging Cockney couples Larry Lamb & Marion Bailey and Phil Davis & Lesley Sharp revisit Brighton (duh) 50yrs after they met there in their youth in the '50s (as shown in flashbacks). Teddy-boys Lamb & side-kick Davis spout embarrassing racist & homophobic bile (and reap the consequences) while Bailey moans about her weight and Sharp revists a past trauma. The performances are abysmal, the set dressings are amateur hour, and the tv-standard direction (by Stephen Cookson (who co-wrote with the Melanie Harris)) is the worst aspect of all. This turd is a proper stinker, and no mistake Guv'nor. Flush it.
