Assassination (1987)
10/10
Fun Bronson

Warning: Spoilers
I have seen Assassination numerous times and it is one of Charles Bronson's best films during his Cannon Films period ( second only to Murphy's Law). What makes it work is Bronson playing Secret Service Agent Jay Killian is having a lot of fun in this film. Not only with real wife Jill Ireland ( First Lady. Lara Royce Craig who he has to protect), but with co-worker and yes love interest Charlotte Chang ( Jan Gan Boyd). Of course, with Bronson there is a lot of action scenes plus a mystery trying to find out who and why someone wants to kill the First Lady? But the witty conversations with Ireland and Boyd is what really works best. Boyd in fact has Bronson right where she wants him ( very much like Linda Cristal in Mr. Majestyk). "No Tootsie Roll After We Are Married." Bronson; "No one said anything about marriage ?" See the smiles from Boyd in the final scene. One other clue; Spoilers Ahead: He is resigning from the Secret Service and guess who is coming with him? Yep: Jan Gun Boyd. I should also note the rousing theme during the credits which work extremely well. Anyway I loved the film (Even if most people did not). It was a lot of fun. 10:10 stars.
