A cute comedy about love and family
3 March 2023
Tora-san (Kiyoshi Atsumi) is unemployed and lives with his sister and her husband, son, aunt, and uncle. After a fight with his family, he travels to a spa with one suitcase and a few coins in his pocket. Here he meets two lovely female travelers and a young man who catches the eye of one of the girls, Keiko (Yuko Tanaka). This young man is Saburo (Kenji Sawada), a shy zookeeper. Saburo's mother, who worked at the spa, has died, so he buries her remains in a nearby cemetery. Tora-san goes back to his family and brings Saburo with him as a guest. Saburo tells everyone that he likes Keiko but doesn't know how to approach her. Meanwhile, Keiko starts a new job in Tokyo. Her parents want to find a husband for her, but she is only thinking about Saburo. Tora-san acts as a matchmaker in the film and tries to bring Keiko and Saburo together. But something happens that rapidly complicates his job - he falls in love with Keiko too! It's a sweet comedy about family and love. What I found most beautiful was that Kenji Sawada and Yuko Tanaka are married in real life. Kenji may have looked older (for example, the cute scene on the hill looked like a teenager meeting a 30 year old virgin, haha), but I would fall for him too. Welp, Kenji Sawada is Kenji Sawada. ;)
