Light, understated but quietly classy, polished & entertaining dramedy

In light but quietly classy dramedy "A Little White Lie" modest, hard-drinking, janitor Michael Shannon (strong as ever) shares a name with an infamous but reclusive author, which has professor Kate Hudson (terrific) mistakenly invite him to her college's literary festival, where the likes of Don Johnson (always likeable), Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Wendie Malick & Aja Naomi Wood (good) welcome him... but Perry Mattfeld & others do not, especially when Zach Braff arrives as the ACTUAL author. Writer / director Michael Maren gently adds weight as he goes, resulting in a highly enjoyable, only slightly farcical, romp. Fine, polished, and yet understated entertainment.
