Has some strength

This Cecil B. DeMille production is a multicolored spectacle that mixes luxuriant scenery, violent story (with shots with blood, very red, because the film is in Technicolor). But it is a complicated story where poor Samson, alias Victor Mature, at the same time sure of himself, but not understanding anything, falls into the nets of Delilah who pilots his life, without him realizing it. The action sequences remain spectacular and keep their cachet. In particular, we remember a fight with bare hands against a lion, quite spectacular.

The actors are not in the subtlety: the direction of actor is heavy, Hedy Lamarr and Victor Mature make a lot, Victor Mature in a permanent first degree, Hedy Lamarr in a second degree with rolling of the eyes that Samson never sees, but quite insistent. But the whole remains exciting with a story rich in multiple twists. George Sanders is more into subtlety and irony.
