Angelina works at a suicide prevention center, and she would appear to have all the sensitivity necessary to empathize with her deeply troubled roommate Bianca. Unfortunately, the fixation that Bianca had on Angelina as she sought a replacement for her deceased sister Amelia was insatiable and too much even for a trained counselor like Angelina to overcome.
While the singular obsession of Bianca seemed difficult to believe, the actress was outstanding in attempting to evoke this particular neurosis. The character's loneliness and extreme vulnerability came across clearly. But, of course, so did the pathology and the violence. An early warning sign was the character's cruelty in evicting a sweet cat from her palatial Los Angeles home.
There was good chemistry between Angelina and Diego, as well as her enduring friendship with her childhood bestie, Gaby. The film was also well directed with excellent camera angles, pacing, scoring, and environments. Bianca's work in fashion design was impressive. Unfortunately, her skills will now likely be put to use as a seamstress in the manufacture of orange jumpsuits in prison.
