Warning: Spoilers
A headstrong Catholic school lay teacher and an Irish priest. Pen pals for years, but he's kept his vocation a secret. Now teacher Angela Lansbury decides to retire and plans to go see him in his native Ireland. She's stunned to learn the secret that Denholm Elliot has kept from her, mainly because he didn't want to lose her friendship while keeping his vows. Both stubborn and proud, they find help from her one time boss (Robert Prosky), a sly old codger (and a priest himself) who adores Lansbury for her constant interference in school business which included showing up at his home with her final class of students demanding to be confirmed.

It's stubborn faith that helped Lansbury survive the mistake of turning down the only marriage proposal she ever received as a young girl, but it's stubborn love for her students which caused her to bring a former student (and unwed mother to be) into her home, unwittingly learning from her students and the experiences that bring her to Ireland. It's a bittersweet comedy with a darker Angela than normal, not quite as easy to like, but definitely likeable when she stops being so stubborn. Elliott, Prosky and sweet Cynthia Nixon are great in support. Definitely inspirational and easy to like, but easy to predict how it will play out.
