"TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS" REVIEW
9 June 2023
Directed by Steven Caple Jr. A runtime of two hours and seven minutes. With a PG-13 rating.

The sequel to the standalone "Bumblebee" film. But years before the Shia LeBoeuf "Transformers" film. Now In 1994 "Noah" played by Anthony Ramos is trying to find a way to provide for his family. Even though he's been a part of the armed services and is extremely tech-savvy. "Noah" still hasn't found consistent work.

His mother "Breanna" played by Luna Lauren Velez is trying to do her best. Her other son "Kris" played by Dean Scott Vazquez has sickle cell which puts more financial strain on the family.

Feeling trapped he takes a job with his friend "Reek" played by Tobe Nwigwe boosting cars. Unfortunately for him, he tries boosting the wrong car. An Autobot named "Mirage" who's voiced by Pete Davidson.

This puts him on a direct course to a young talented Archeologist "Elena" played by Dominique Fishback. She has found a key that will help get "Optimus Prime" voiced by Peter Cullen and the rest of the "Autobots" back home to "Cybertron".

But the "Autobots" aren't the only ones that want that key. "Scourge" voiced by Peter Dinklage a flunky to "Unicorn" voiced by Colman Domingo wants it. With the help of "Optimus Primal" voiced by Ron Perlman a relative of sorts to "Optimus Prime". The "Maximals", "Autobots", "Noah" and "Elena" will all have to work together to stop "Unicron" from coming to Earth and destroying the whole planet.

"Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" brought back old feelings. I loved it focused a chunk of the characters and location in New York. Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback are both leading actors. They have enough tools in their acting arsenal to carry a massive franchise like "Transformers".

This film was funny and witty like the original film. It also provided tons of action. I'm from the East Coast so I could relate to this film even further. As a kid I loved "Beast Wars" so finally implementing them was well worth the wait.

They hit perfectly on all the casting. Like Tobe Nwigwe. He has a future in film. Tobe was natural and hilarious. They infused the right amount of new blood into this franchise to give it the spark it needed.

This film got straight to the point. The plot was very direct. Which I appreciated. This wasn't on the same level as the Shia LeBouf "Transformers" but it was a close second. A great new first film to kick off the new trilogy. With some new stuff, I'm very excited to see play out.

Before I end I have to say. Anthony Ramos's little brother in the film "Kris" having Sickle Cell was amazing. I looked at my daughter Bk and both of our mouths were wide open in shock. Not only did it showcase a blood disease that I battle every day. It also showed a little bit of that world. I thought that was so creative and cool. Whoever thought to put that in the film needs to be applauded a thousand times over.

"Transformers" is a near and dear franchise to me. I love it. It started to get a little stale but they came back right. I can't wait to see what the future holds with this franchise. But they have it in great hands. Please support this film. I want something that has Sickle Cell in it in front of as many eyes as possible. I give this film four mor fires 🔥🔥🔥🔥 but to me personally it's a five mor fire just from having that in it alone.
