Everything is so fake, despite trying with costumes and settings. Just take a look at the makeup and hair - it's a modern take on everything and it's overdone to bits. It's also a lot of re-hash from movies we've seen before.
Sure, it's just a movie, but movies are an art-form and should be given the tlc that they should have regardless of small or big budgets. In The Reckoning I have a feeling they used most of their budget on makeup and hair, and cgi.
Grit is cool, and grit makes everything feel more real. This one is way too polished.
It's a shame since the background for making a movie like this is amazing. A crazy religion & power mad people, and of course the era of witch burnings and the plague. It had all the potential of being a 7 or 8 out of 10, but it's very far from it.
