A Murder of Quality (1991 TV Movie)
8/10
Great acting across the board

The title, A MURDER OF QUALITY, should warn one that George Smiley is here more on a whodunnit than a spydoing it mission. This forewarning aside, Gavin Millar is no director that I know anything about, but from watching A MURDER OF QUALITY I can tell that he knows how to extract the best from veteran actors like Elliott, Jackson and Ackland, and young ones like Christian Bale and David Threlfal, who, to me, is the pick of the bunch.

Quality acting gives real and superb quality to A MURDER. Cinematography by Denis Crossan is high level, suitably dark in line with the subject of homicide.

The script, off the novel by John Le Carré, is logical, sound cause and effect, though the astounding amount of characters helps to take the viewer's eye off possible flaws.

Anyway, I liked it and I think most will, too. 8/10.
