The Lone Hand (1953)
Joel McCrea vs Charles Drake
25 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
And Charles Drake FOR ONCE in a villain role, what a good, excellent surprise. Because this actor did not have a villain roles face at all, unlike Neville Brand, Lee Van Cleef, Leo Gordon, John Doucette.... So seeing him here matching, fightig against Joel McCrea, even if it is not predictable at first sight, that's pretty exciting. There is much suspense in this story, mainly because of Joel McCrea's role. Maybe after all, Drake was the villain in another Universal film, but I am not sure at all. I don't think so. He had a too good face to make a villain. So here, don't miss him, it is very exceptional. The first minutes may let you think that this western is a gentle oater, but no, don't worry. It is not ULZANA'S RAID but not a pastoral crap either.
