One of the best limited series I've seen in quite some time. The subject matter is dark, and this series is very raw and emotional, but also very realistic and well scripted and acted. The script goes back-and-forth in time between the principal characters tumultuous childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood, and the present day, when she is pushing 50 and still inviting chaos into her life. These aptly timed repeated flashback scenes shed light into who the character has become and why. A fairly dysfunctional adult, but with great love for her child, the character constantly navigate flashbacks and memories of a primarily traumatic past. But it was not all bleak, and those glimmers of light seem to be what give her the hope that a stable life is possible and carry her through, even if she is not particularly adept at creating one . Most of all this is just a very good story, something that I find is lacking from many present-day series and films. Have a box of tissues handy, but definitely give this one a watch.
