Strong Acting buffs up weak script

Warning: Spoilers
I viewed this movie via You Tube. It was clearly uploaded from an old vhs tape so picture quality was not the sharpest. Sound quality was good.

Firstly it is my opinion that Pamela Shoop stole the award for best actor in this film.

So much so I investigated her filmography, I was keen to see more of her but was met with disappointment. This was her only major role.

Every actor in this movie is strong and gave flawless performances.

The only thing hammy are the fight scenes.

Ok. Jack plays Jack. This time in "detective mode" .

It is a fairly linear script. I dare say rushed out on the coat tails of similar such succesful efforts as stated on this page in other reviews.

Shame not much more of an effort was made to get a bit more in depth background, especially on the main character who is a vetran. A bit more gritty. Alas.

We come into the story following a beautiful lady who gets pulses racing immediatly by undressing and changing into evening attire. She is a pro card player at night. Yup. She gets killed.

Which cuts with (pardon the pun) Jack losing a high profile trial involving a mob hoodlum because he failed to follow process. This is where the script is weak. It gets kicked out by the judge immediatly the bad guy says he wasnt given his rights when asked by his attorney. No objection from the prosecution. Hmmmm. Hence the start of one man jury.

Jack now has it in for the bad guy.

This revenge becomes interupted by a serial killer on the loose who it seems that Jack is lead detective on.

This is when we discover she is the latest in a number of similar slayings aptly named the Slasher murders.

Nothing else gets mentioned here other than merely alluded to.

Jack (A Superintenden(!!!) and his sidekick Sergeant do their thing which does not really involve an awful lot of graft.

The movie plays out in a much vaunted vein.

Mob criminal has to come to justice.

Slasher has to be found, and come to Justice. Jacks justice.

It is worth watching the tale unfold because the actors are excellent and the fight scenes laughable.

It is of its time.

But as a history lesson it is a nostalgic trip viewing old run down America, vehicles with rocking horse shock absorbers, how casinos were run and overall some decent photography.
