If you're a young teacher going out of town for your first job, be careful of the community you choose. That's the lesson that young Kim Darby learns, with the elders of the community instantly suspicious of her and the children, grateful that she's not another old bat, wary of lessons that they've been manipulated by the town's authority figures, obviously hiding something they don't want Darby to find out about.

Slow moving and quite pensive at first, this builds in emotion, especially when Darby assigns a drawing requirement and is shocked by what she sees. Dan O'Herlihy and William Shatner costar in this TV film that Francis Ford Coppola produced the same year as "The Godfather". At just 70 minutes long, this is easy to get through, at some points literally flying by.
