(1969) Death of a Gunfighter
WESTERN/ SOCIAL COMMENTARY
Adapted from the novel by Lewis B. Patten, it has Richard Widmark as the gunfighter/ marshal of the small town "Cottonwoood Springs" Texas with much of the townspeople attempting to do away with him. And the next thing you know, the movie dwells on this notion of the townspeople scheme by getting other people involve in their conspiracy. In other words, this is a pessimistic revision of "High Noon" and "The Gunfighter".
You know, sometimes if majority of the townspeople does not want you, then sometimes one would go if you are not wanted.
