Review of The Good Mother

With two time, Oscar winner, Hillary swank, and up and newcomer Olivia Cooke from House of Dragons how can you not like this movie? The Good Mother takes on a relevant deep topic that I think many families will be able to relate to in a very deep way. It does a great job at giving two different views into the very complex world of a family member being addicted to drugs and all that comes along with it, especially from a mothers point of view. You get the view point of the sinner and the saint, and figure out at the end that saints can be sinners too. The second I thought this movie was going in one direction it took a turn in the complete opposite path. I would have loved more characters to go in deeper but you only have so long in a movie! I also appreciated that it wasn't not so dark where it's going to make you uncomfortable to watch but it goes just deep enough. There is never a dull moment in this movie and that is saying a lot considering there wasn't explosion after explosion or a ton of violence. The violence is in the real life situation the fentanyl crisis is having on America and it's teenagers, even the athletic ones who have bright futures. I would definitely recommend!
