They're Creepy and They're Scary
24 September 2023
The 1991 film version of the Addams Family varies quite differently from the 1960s television series upon which it is based. For those accustomed to the old series, seeing this version might not make sense. However, Christopher Lloyd, Raul Julia and Angelica Huston provide wonderful performances as Fester, Gomez and Morticia Addams, respectively. Especially Lloyd, who is nearly unrecognizable as Uncle Fester. The child actors, Christina Ricci and Jimmy Workman are pretty memorable as well as Wednesday and Pugsley.

The story is not as strong, either poorly written or not put through the thought process long enough. Barry Sonnenfeld does a solid directing job with what he has to work with, and pulls off an average film that other directors couldn't.
