This is the typical mentor and student story where mentor (John Lund) takes young Scott Brady under his wing and teaches him everything he knows another bull riding, only to find Brady becoming his rival. Usually in stories like this, the teacher becomes jealous and can't bear giving up his title, but Brady becomes a bit cocky and even risks losing the girl (Joyce Holden).
I found Chill Wills' sidekick character corny and not really funny, but as Holden's father, he's necessary to the story. Some of the rodeo footage is interesting, featuring popular rodeo stars of the time. Brady in training gets a good workout, some of which he's unable to handle. Not bad for a modern day set western, but rather dated in other ways.
